Description
Dancing Peacock Maple. This is arguably one of the best Japanese Maples for autumn colour. Given a good summer and a few sharp frosts in the autumn, the colour changes in the leaves can be startling. The large, deeply-divided leaves (the name ‘Aconitifolium’ referring to the similarity to Aconite leaves) emerge a pale green in the spring before turning to mid green for the summer months. The flowers are a treat, peeking out from beneath the leaves in late April/early May. Site in a sunny spot to ensure good colouring where it will make a beautiful round-topped tree; probably best in the ground than in a container.
