Root Pruning

An in-depth video guide about pruning the roots of your maple tree.

This task is best carried out in February to mid March in the UK (possibly later depending on where you are in the country), as the tree starts to emerge blearily from the winter months. You’ll notice the buds are starting to swell and this is an ideal time. Please don’t attempt to do this kind of root work to a tree that is in leaf, it will not be impressed.

Aim for a day that isn’t too cold (certainly not frozen) and isn’t wet (that just makes it nicer for you). If you’re watching this video thinking that it looks a bit daunting, please feel free to contact us for further advice. Alternatively, if you are somewhere in our vicinity, we do offer this as a service, along with pruning and re-potting.

Grab a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy watching someone else work…

Apologies for recording this in portrait instead of landscape – lesson learned!!
