Description
Originally selected by Bloodgood Nursery, New York in the 1950s, this is quite simply one of the best purple-leaved Japanese maples, selected for its reliably consistent colouring. It has an upright habit and is a strong grower, making a small tree in a reasonable amount of time. For best colour, Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’ should be sited in at least half a day of sun, where the purple foliage will turn a stunning scarlet in the autumn.
