Acer palmatum ‘Katsura’

One of the first maples to emerge in the spring, with glorious orangey-yellow leaves that fade to pale green for the summer months.

SKU: KATSU Category:

Description

The small yellow leaves emerge infused with tones of bright orange, which fade to a pale yellowy-green for the summer.  A few chilly but bright autumn days will encourage a fabulous display of bright yellows, oranges and reds before the leaves fall. A reasonably quick grower when young, ‘Katsura’ should soon make an attractive small tree whose small leaves naturally create an elegant (and often much-envied) shape.

Site in part-sun/part-shade to ensure good colouring but at the same time allowing some protection from the intense midsummer sun.  It is almost always one of the first Japanese maples to leaf in the spring and so can be at risk from last frosts – keep an eye on the weather forecast!
