Description
Acer palmatum ‘Omure yama’ is a very desirable cultivar with a beautiful pendulous habit and is named after Mount Omuro in Japan which is famed for its shape, reminiscent of an upturned rice bowl. As the tree matures, this shape becomes more evident and lends itself to a standalone feature tree where its silhouette can be admired. Bright green leaves with a hint of yellow cloak the tree for most of the season but with arrival of autumn, the foliage becomes a blaze of golds and crimsons once autumn arrives. In the garden, it will reach about 3 or 4 metres after 20 years, although its size can be controlled if grown in a container.
