Description
The new leaves of Acer palmatum ‘Orangeola’* emerge a soft burgundy before fading to a greeny-red for the summer. However, there is always a new splash of red when the tree adds on a new flush of growth, meaning the colour is always changing. This is one of the larger-leaved dissectums and grows into a beautiful cascading shape with age. The autumn sees a blaze of reds and crimsons.
*Previously known as Acer palmatum subsp. dissectum ‘Orangeola’, it has since been decided by those in the know that ‘dissectum’ should not now be considered a sub-species.
