The Coral Bark Maple
Simply one of the best known maples, with bright red stems that seem to glow on sunny winter days. The small leaves are a pleasing pale green as they emerge and turn to a fantastic butter yellow in the autumn. Position somewhere that will received about half a day of sun – this will mean that you will get good stem colouration as well as striking autumn colours. The name translates approximately from the Japanese as ‘Coral Tower’, which is quite befitting of this beautiful tree as it becomes mature.
