Description
Acer palmatum ‘Sumi nagashi’ is a lovely old cultivar that emerges burgundy-red in the spring before turning purple for the summer months, perhaps with green tones in hot summers. The autumn sees a lovely mix of fiery reds before the leaves fall. The leaves are fairly deeply cut and have slightly toothed edges, making it quite distinctive from other red-purple cultivars. Happy in a sunny position (see photos of our own tree) where you will have the best colouring.
