Description
This is a very unusual cultivar selected by Japanese Maple maestro J.D. Vertrees in the mid 1980s. Growing as an upright tree, Acer palmatum ‘Tennyo no hoshi’ emerges in the spring with fresh green foliage, edged with white and tinged with pink. This pink colouring fades for the summer months before reappearing in the autumn before leaf drop. The leaves are surprisingly small for the size of tree and lend the overall appearance of a cloud. Site in a sunny position for best colouring – stand back and admire.
